Study objectives and contents

The extension subject Economics of the Master of Education for the teaching profession Gymnasium has a scope of 120 ECTS credits; the standard period of study, including the time for writing the Bachelor's thesis, is four semesters. The 120 ECTS credits include at least 90 ECTS credits of subject-related studies and at least 15 ECTS credits of subject-related didactics. The largest part of the extension subject Economics is made up of the subject-specific fundamentals (56 ECTS) and the subject-specific specialization I and II (23 and 8 ECTS). In the area of subject didactics, the modules Subject Didactics of Economics I and II (5 and 9 ECTS) as well as the subject-specific scientific and subject-didactic reflections for the subject of economics/career and study orientation (4 ECTS) must be taken. However, in the module Fachwissenschaftliche und fachdidaktische Reflexionen für das Fach Wirtschaft/Berufs- und Studienorientierung, the two ECTS points of the course Berufs- und Studienorientierung of the Fachwissenschaft and one ECTS point of the course Fachwissenschaftliche und fachdidaktische Herausforderungen des Wirtschaftsunterrichts are allocated to the area of Fachwissenschaft.
